Medical

When it comes to medical, Wolters Kluwer has you covered with access to several options so you can choose what’s best for you. There are three national options: Two consumer driven plans, the Enhanced HSA Plan and the Core HSA Plan that qualify for a Health Savings Account (HSA), as well as a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) Plan. All three are through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois, cover the same services and prescription drugs and offer in-network preventive care at 100%. If you are in Illinois or California, you may also have a Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) option to consider.

Support for your path to parenthood

When you enroll in a national Wolters Kluwer medical plan, you also have access to inclusive benefits that support many paths to parenthood, including donor and surrogacy assistance, virtual holistic coaching and fertility treatments. These benefits are provided through Kindbody.

When enrolling in coverage

  • Consider when you prefer to pay for care. Depending on whether you’d prefer to pay more in upfront contributions and less at the time of care, or less in contributions and more at the time of care, Wolters Kluwer provides options to meet your needs. Learn more.
  • Think about who you need to cover. When you enroll, you can add your eligible dependents including your spouse/domestic partner and/or your child(ren) up to age 26. Consider whether it makes sense for you and your family to be covered under the medical plan or through your spouse’s/domestic partner’s employer (if applicable). Learn about dependent eligibility.
  • Consider your anticipated health care needs. Think about how you and family members use medical coverage. Based on your personal situation and upcoming health care needs and preferences, decide which plan makes the most sense for you. Learn more.
  • Explore the tax-saving accounts that are compatible with each Medical plan. Both consumer driven health plans are paired with an HSA, which allows you to save money, pay for eligible health care expenses and invest to grow your account balance, all tax free. If you enroll in the PPO, you can contribute to the Health Care Flexible Spending Account.
  • Review your contributions. You will make your benefit elections through the Wolters Kluwer Benefits Center, our benefits enrollment platform. When you enroll, you will be able to view the contribution rates for each plan and access the decision support tool to help you select your benefits.
  • Check if an HMO is available in your area. This additional medical plan option is only available in certain areas — depending on your home zip code. If available to you, you will see it through the Wolters Kluwer Benefits Center when you enroll. Key features of an HMO.
  • Confirm your tobacco usage status: When you enroll, you are required to attest to your family’s use of tobacco separately for both the medical and optional life insurance plans. If you do not confirm your status, the system assumes you are a “tobacco user,” which means you’ll miss out on lower premiums for being a non-tobacco user.

If you’re a new hire or experience a qualifying life event (QLE) between October 29 – December 31, 2025, you’ll need to make benefit elections in two places. Learn more.

Dental

Smile – you have dental coverage through Wolters Kluwer. Keep your teeth and gums healthy with coverage through the Delta Dental Plan or the Cigna Dental HMO Plan.

When enrolling in coverage

  • Consider your options. Both dental plans offer comprehensive coverage, but it’s important to review key similarities and differences. Compare the plans.
  • Check if your provider is in-network. If you are considering the Dental HMO, there is no coverage for non-network dentists, so double check before you enroll through the Wolters Kluwer Benefits Center.

Vision

See what vision coverage has to offer, including access to a large national network of providers through EyeMed, an annual eye exam, benefits to help cover frames and lenses, discounts and more. The plan supplements the coverage available under your Wolters Kluwer medical plan.

When enrolling in coverage

  • Consider if you need additional vision coverage. Since this plan supplements what’s available under the medical plan, review the coverage details to decide if it makes sense for you.
  • Discuss if it makes sense to cover your dependents. Just like with medical and dental, you can enroll your eligible dependents in vision coverage. Discuss with your family if this makes sense for you and your situation.

Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance

Wolters Kluwer offers financial protection and support in case the unexpected occurs. You receive a base level of coverage automatically at no cost to you with the option to purchase more for added peace of mind:

  • Basic Life and AD&D insurance: 1.5 times your annual base pay (provided automatically and paid for by the company).
  • Optional coverage: Available at group term rates for yourself, spouse/domestic partner and children.

When enrolling in coverage

  • Consider additional coverage. Based on your needs, you have the option to purchase Optional Life Insurance, Optional Dependent Life Insurance and Optional AD&D Insurance.
  • Save money by being tobacco-free. Your costs for optional employee and spouse life insurance will be lower if you and your covered spouse do not use tobacco products.
  • Understand when you need to provide Evidence of Insurability (EOI). EOI or proof of good health may include a questionnaire or physical exam that is subject to approval by the carrier for coverage over certain amounts.
  • Name your beneficiary(ies). It’s important to name your beneficiary so that in the event that something happens to you, your assets are distributed according to your wishes. You can name your beneficiary when you enroll through the Wolters Kluwer Benefits Center and change at any time.

Disability

Our disability benefits offer financial protection at no cost to you if you’re unable to work due to short-term or long-term illness or injury. You’ll have access to both Short-Term Disability and Long-Term Disability:

  • Short-Term Disability (STD) (30-day wait for new hires): Provided at no cost to you; you receive salary compensation during a short-term disability.
  • Long-Term Disability (LTD): Provided at no cost to you and you also have the option to elect employee-paid LTD coverage.

When enrolling in coverage

  • Understand how company-provided coverage works. You are automatically provided STD and LTD by the company at no cost to you. Learn more about your coverage.
  • Review your option for employee paid LTD. You can elect employee-paid LTD coverage. With employee-paid LTD coverage, you pay for the premiums with after-tax dollars. If you become disabled, the benefit is tax free. With the company provided coverage, you will be taxed on the benefit you receive in the event you become disabled.

Voluntary Benefits

You have a range of voluntary benefits you can choose based on what you feel is best for you and your family. Voluntary benefits can make a difference by providing peace of mind and additional support when you need it.

Our voluntary benefits include Critical Illness Insurance, Accident Insurance, Hospital Indemnity Insurance, Identity Protection, Discount Auto and Home Insurance, Legal Plan and Pet Insurance.

When enrolling in coverage

  • Review your options for protection against unexpected medical costs. Critical Illness Insurance, Accident Insurance and Hospital Indemnity Insurance provide financial assistance in the event of the unexpected. Learn more.
  • Consider any upcoming legal needs you may have. The Legal Plan gives you access to a network of attorneys to help you with covered legal matters, including estate planning, adoption, civil suits, reproductive assistance and more.

Schedule preventive screenings.

Preventive screenings are covered at 100% by your Wolters Kluwer medical plan and help manage your long-term health care expenses — as it is easier and often less expensive to treat health problems that are caught early.

Stay in-network.

Network providers provide discounts on your care, so you’ll save money when you stay in-network. Before you seek care, be sure your providers (doctor, dentist, eye doctor, hospital, facility, behavioral health provider) are in-network. Check to see if your provider is in-network.

Do your homework.

When you have planned health care needs (e.g., surgery, maternity, lab work), use your health plan’s cost estimator tool(s) to “shop” for services to get the most cost-effective price for your health care needs.

Talk to your doctor about lower cost alternatives.

If your doctor prescribes a brand-name drug, ask your pharmacist if a generic is available.

Think about your options when you need care.

When you need medical care, it’s important to consider all of the options available to you. Heading to the emergency room (ER) is not always the best first choice (unless your condition is serious or life-threatening). Where to get the right level of health care often depends on the situation. Learn more.
